Announcing the DREAM Partnership News Correspondent Internship Program!
The board members and staff at DREAM Partnership are excited and proud to announce a Program Grant Award from UCP of Central PA Foundation. This 2016-2017 grant award will fund the implementation of DREAM’s News Correspondent Internship Program where students attending one of DREAM’s sponsored post-secondary education programs may apply for a semester long paid internship & mentorship. Students attending programs at Mercyhurst University, Penn State University- Harrisburg, Arcadia University, Slippery Rock University, and Temple University will be eligible to apply.
Five students (up to ten by 2017-18) will be hired and will receive training on how to write and publish blog posts on topics relating to self-determination, self-advocacy, and postsecondary college experiences for students with disabilities. This will give students the chance to have a voice in how the public is exposed to information and stories relating to their experiences on and off campus. DREAM will implement a public blog site that will be linked to DREAM’s, UCP of Central PA’s, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation’s, and Think College’s websites.
We will be sure to keep you all posted on the development of this exciting opportunity!
