Dr. Richard Harker is a family physician who is co-owner and President of with West Shore Family Practice, P.C., a private practice located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, with hospital appointments at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Pinnacle Health System, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dr. Harker is also currently the District physician for the Cumberland Valley School District (CVSD). Dr. Harker’s past medical affiliations includes staff physician for Health America, Inc., Beacon Medical Group/ ProMedCo, and Pinnacle Health System, where he also served as a supervisory physician for mid-level provider(s). Dr. Harker has served as a preceptor for first and second year medical students from the Pennsylvania State University Milton S. Hershey College of Medicine.
Dr. Harker is active with many medical associations, including American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Academy of Family Practice, Cumberland County Medical Society and is a Fellow Diplomat of the American Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Harker is active in the community and has served as a past PTO President, Director of Afterschool Foreign Language Programs in the CVSD, and past President and current member of the Board of Directors of the CVSD Eagle Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supplementing the academic, cultural, athletic, and activity programs of the Cumberland Valley School District.
Dr. Harker has a BA in Biology and a BA in Spanish; Pennsylvania State Teaching Certification in Biology and Spanish from Bucknell University, a magna cum laude graduate. He received his medical degree from The Pennsylvania State University Milton S. Hershey College of Medicine. Dr. Harker completed his residency training in family medicine at Lancaster General Hospital, serving his final year as Chief Resident.
